Just sticking a photoshpped pic as a welcome page doesn’t seem that welcoming. Wouldn’t users much rather be taken to a useful home page with menus and such?
@Joe – It depends on your business. Many of the big brands use the image welcome page to keep things simple, because their pages are app heavy. There is such a thing as having too much going on there – but if you prefer a HTML or flash welcome page, go for it!
