I hate bots and I especially hate those automated DMs that I get when I follow someone on Twitter. I swear, it makes me want to go back and unfollow the person. I actually had a DM conversation with someone who replied to a DM in complete surprise because I was actually human. 🙂 Normally, I don’t DM anyone I haven’t already established some sort of a give and take relationship with but in this case, they were obviously a newbie who had let their # of followers vs following so out of control, I felt compelled to give them a “heads-up”.
@Sherryl – There does seem to be a massive hoard of Twitter users against automated direct messages. The problem is that most DM’s are just dirty, dirty spam. Who cares that a stranger wants to show you this amazing new product that they love? You’re absolutely right when you say that some sort of connection is needed before a DM. Keep fighting the good fight, and thanks for reading!
