I’m still thinking about it – but am leaning towards the “need to have your own space” camp. Social networks are really powerful tools because they can put your brand or business into context for a specific audience. But the benefits of having the freedom of your own site I think is probably primarily important.
That said – if all you want is presence I can see how justifying the investment in your own site might be a hard business case to make for some.
